Link Acquaintens

 To make the website more web 2.0, we added a feature to link acquaintens to the person we loved.

You saw 2 person on the website who knew each other, just create a link between those 2 people and tell a story why they knew each other.

 

This way we not only tell stories but creates a network of acquaintens which have other stories, pictures and memories.

 

How to link acquaintens? 

 

Visit the person you loved, in the profile you will see Link Acquaintens. After logging in , select the person you like to link from the list.

The list exists of your own created homage websites and the last 15 profile you have visisted.

Write a story why those 2 person knew each other and click on Save

Starting with the beta version

 Since january 2007, out team was working hard to make the website up and running, since March we had the first version and our testers started to test.    Meanwhile the design team was creating the final version of the layout.

Today we opened the project to a bigger public.  During a period of time, all entries will be free, then we will charge a one time fee of 12 euro; to assure the working of this project.

10% of the income will be given to Charity.  The list of projects will be online soon.

Timeline added

 The Memory of Life.org team is going fast as we are almost ready to launch.   Today we added the TimeLine feature. 

The user can add dates or periods to stories, then these stories are added to a graphical timeline.

The timeline software is sponsored by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and is maintained by the SIMILE project, in particular: David François Huynh, dfhuynh at csail.mit.edu

Slideshow added

Today we added a new feature to remember the persons we loved.   When opening the homage website of the person, we added an automatic slideshow to the Pictures panel.

The slideshow will show a new picture every  5 seconds, and also the story.

The start is getting closer….

Finally we are getting started,  the whole idea started in september 2006.  when I say started  I mean brainstorming.In january 2007 we finally registered the name and the programming could start.   Together with our team we could create a first version in april 2007.   After the first version our testers and dessign team started working.  

I think we have created a nice, interesting website that is unique in the world,   I want to thank already all the people who helped, tested, gave us ideas etc.

The last phase is started, we are entering the corrct text and labels in English and Dutch.
